Tectonic Evolution of the SE West Siberian Basin (Russia): Evidence from Apatite Fission Track Thermochronology of Its Exposed Crystalline Basement

The West Siberian Basin (WSB) is one of the largest intracratonic Meso-Cenozoic basins in world. Its evolution has been studied over recent decades; however, some fundamental questions regarding tectonic WSB remain unresolved or unconfirmed by analytical data. A complete understanding during Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras requires insights into cooling history basement rocks as determined low-temperature thermochronometry. We presented an apatite fission track (AFT) thermochronology study on exposed parts order to distinguish activation episodes absolute timeframe. AFT dating thirteen samples mainly yielded Cretaceous ages mean lengths varied between 12.8 14.5 μm. Thermal modeling based data demonstrates several intracontinental reactivation affected basement. interpreted activity accompanied exhumation a far-field effect from processes acting southern eastern boundaries Eurasia Mesozoic–Cenozoic eras.
